Our values

Our values are a commitment to judge ourselves to our own high standards and guide us to keep our approach and behaviours consistent throughout the business.

We do the right thing

We own it & get it done

We achieve more together

We challenge the status quo

We do what’s best, not what’s easiest. We act with integrity at every turn, speak up even when it’s difficult and do what’s right even when no one is watching.

We say what we’ll do and do what we say. We hold ourselves and each other accountable. We seek to build trust in every relationship. We follow up and ensure the job gets done.

We know we’re stronger when we work together as a team. We value what each and every person brings to the table and we treat each other with respect, empathy and appreciation.

We’re a company of bold, future thinkers with the courage to try things that have never been done before. We reward and recognise innovation and pioneering spirit, even if ideas and first attempts fail.

Life at TEG

We offer hybrid working, going to the office weekly or when needed. We have a spacious office in Kings Cross. When in the office we offer fresh fruit, pastries, snacks and a beer fridge (including non-alcoholic drinks). Our Social Committee organises quarterly company social events. Previously, we have attended Crystal Maze, Windsor Horse Racing and bowling, to name a few.

Celebrating our people

Our Long Service Awards celebrate our people. Our first celebrated over 100 years’ collective service with Transport Exchange Group, and encompassed brilliant people from HR, Revenue, Product, and Operations functions. We know years of hard work have helped to make our platform what it is, and we make sure our people know that, too.

We’re proud to have helped so many current and former TEG colleagues accelerate their careers through our Apprenticeship Programme, which we launched in 2023.

Join the Programme and you’ll receive countless opportunities to write the next chapter of your own story.

Since launching our Apprenticeship Programme, we’ve inducted 15 apprentices to our Customer Services team in Chippenham, and we’re already looking for more talented recruits. The programme grants recruits both experience and the opportunity to progress to roles in our Sales, Product and Marketing teams, which are all based in London.

We aim to offer Programme recruits competitive compensation packages, including a London Living Wage (LLW) starting salary of (currently) £25,643. Salary progression opportunities include +3k for colleagues, +3k for deputy managers and +3k for managers.

The opportunity to work for a market-leading SaaS company, that operates in the dynamic and ever-growing transport and logistics industry, was attractive to me. I had aspirations of relocating to London for the right opportunity, and TEG ticked a lot of boxes. I’d heard of TEG’s great workplace culture, which sealed the deal for me.

During my time as Transformation and Change Manager, we implemented a company-wide change in a new document management system, a huge effort to get over the line. I was also the first non-C-suite or head of department to present a company-wide update. More recently, I was promoted to a product role in Trustd, already building new exciting functionality, and presenting some of this during a product update. I’m looking forward to adding to this in the future!

I have ambitions to progress in the product world and aspire to ultimately become a product manager. Longer term, I’d like to advance to C-suite level.

I appreciate the fact TEG champions flexible working, a positive and vibrant office space, and company socials. I believe these all help foster our great culture!

Ashley Smyth

I was very concerned over the thought of traveling to Harrow every day, but the dedication of TEG meant I was given a laptop and one of the first remote working contracts.

My direct job offer is and always will be my key milestone and something I’m very proud of. About 6 months after I joined TEG as a customer support agent, I was promoted to 2nd Line Support Manager, and then a year or so later I was offered a role as a business analyst (BA).

The future for me in TEG is to learn and hone my skills as a BA and then become a senior BA or product owner.

The thing I love the most about TEG is the possibilities the company gives you. You are treated like a human and not just a payroll number; everyone from the CEO down listens to you and treats you with the respect you deserve. TEG has a great set of company values and truly lives by them. My favourite being “We do the right thing”. From day one I have been empowered to change the business for the better.

My journey with TEG started when after working for myself running a courier company ended. I was at a loss, no references or work experience for another company for over 20 years. I decided to pop my CV online and forgot about it – then I received a call from an agency telling me that they felt there was a customer they had who was looking for someone like me!

I initially felt dubious and was not sure if I would be comfortable working for someone after being my own boss for so long.

I was 53 and starting out from scratch again, a very scary prospect.

I had an interview for Customer Services and when I was shown the job I was instantly attracted to the role. This was a job that I was able to empathise with and relate to the people I would be speaking to.

When I learned about the product I was instantly hooked, and knew this was something I could be passionate about.

September 2021 – Started with customer services which gave me the ability to learn about the company and our product.

August 2022 – Trustd webchat was launched, I volunteered to take this role and grow the position, training immediate staff on CS but then eventually looked after the project solely and trained the team in Nepal on chat and the processes of getting members approved.

March 2023 – After a long chat with Sat, when he visited Hartham Park, I was offered the opportunity to come up to London to see if sales was the next step for me within the company. Our chat was very insightful with Sat recognising some of my personal struggles as he had been through similar. This gave me the courage to think outside the box and realise that maybe there was more that I could do and learn within the company.

July 2023 – Made the move over to sales which whilst very scary is now something I really enjoy. I get to speak to the leads and can relate to their struggles and because of my previous experience they know that I understand their situation.

I have become a sponge over the last few years and my goal is to be able to work across many of the different areas within the company. I still hold an interest in Trustd, that was something I grew from nothing, and was very proud of what I achieved. I like the fact that there is so much to learn, and the opportunities are there to enable this to happen. I am very interested in the launch into Europe and would love to be involved when this happens, as my final life goal is to move out of the UK. If I can still work whilst doing this, I would be in a winning situation.

I now have a renewed faith in myself, which has given me the passion to grow my skills and drag back out some of the skills I have learned throughout my previous roles in my younger years that I thought would never be of use again.

I love the energy in TEG and the fact the product is always evolving and the same with how Trustd is doing the same. I love the way TEG/Trustd has grown, and that with it, comes more opportunities for the right people to grow as well.

My biggest praise is for the management I have had around me. I have always been very much supported firstly with Alex and Nav, they were amazing support and made coming back into a work situation effortless.

Nav, whilst I have moved to sales, still has my back and I know he is someone I could always go to, so I am grateful for that.

Almaz, well what can I say. She is amazing and I feel so lucky to have these people around me and supporting my growth.

I love the fact that as a company we get together on occasions which unites both areas so there is not a “them and us” culture.

My age is not a barrier and that means the most to me. I still have a lot to give and if the right opportunities arise, I know that I have as good a chance as anyone because this company allows you to grow, if fact it encourages it.

Chad Hazelwood

Simply put the product is what brought me in. In researching the company, I kept kicking myself for not having thought of it, which made me really excited to work on it.

The first time I saw one of my ideas show up in the platform was really exciting to me. So that stands out. I have also always really enjoyed speaking to our members and having them tell me the difference that the Exchange has made in their lives. As someone who in a previous life sold pneumatic systems to Engineers and was anything but inspired by it, I have always especially appreciated the real world impact of the work that we do.

Having recently joined the product team, I would love to be involved in the next phase of the Exchange and the products that will lead us into new and exciting markets. I get really excited by the opportunities that Trustd represents (I know it is not TEG, but still) and I also will never lose my passion for the Exchange itself. There is so much left undone in terms of assisting members find success using our data to build relationships with each other, and I would like to explore fully what is possible in that world. As a junior Business Analyst I would like to progress up the hierarchy to Product Manager when I have accumulated the skills required.

TEG has always toed the gap between a startup and a big company and I really like that. I like that the startup energy flows through this place and you have an opportunity to explore new skillsets almost every day. The fact that it still exists at a company that has been in business for nearly 25 years and holds the market positioning that it does is testament to the vision coming down from the very top.
